Overcoming Creative Blocks: What To Do When Creativity Feels Out of Reach

Every creative experiences it at some point: the blank screen, the lack of ideas, the feeling that creativity has simply disappeared.

In my experience, creative blocks usually come from one of three things: overthinking, comparison, or burnout. We put pressure on ourselves to create something perfect, compare our work to others, or push ourselves beyond our limits.

When I feel stuck, I've learned that the answer isn't to sit at my desk longer. It's to step away.

Some of my best ideas come from being outside, exploring my surroundings, or browsing Pinterest for inspiration. A change of scenery often gives my mind the space it needs to reconnect ideas and see things from a fresh perspective.

The key is to use inspiration as a tool, not a measuring stick. Instead of comparing your work to someone else's, ask yourself what you can learn from it.

Creative blocks don't mean you've lost your creativity. More often than not, they're a sign that you need to recharge, explore, and permit yourself to think differently.

Sometimes the best way to move forward is to step away from the screen and look up.
